Puerto Vallarta: The Friendliest City on Earth

Fri. Jun/22th/2018.

Welcome to Puerto Vallarta, the friendliest city on earth, located between the states of Nayarit and Jalisco, in the heart of the Banderas Bay. This bay is the largest in Mexico, the second largest on the American continent, and one of the deepest and most beautiful on the planet. Following the interest generated in 1963 by the filming of "Night of the Iguana" directed by John Huston, Puerto Vallarta has grown into a leading tourist destination in the Mexican Pacific coast. Its success is due both to the quality of hotels and tourism services, as well as the ideal climate conditions and the friendliness of its inhabitants.

Puerto Vallarta is both a traditional city, the third largest tourist port of Mexico, and a cosmopolitan city that attracts each year more than 200 cruises and more than 3 million visitors! Its international airport "Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, offers connections to major cities in North American, Canada, and Mexico, such as Guadalajara, Leon, Mexico City and San Jose del Cabo.

This is a place of contrast between colonial and modern, the jungle and the coast, fun and tranquility. Puerto Vallarta offers its visitors an extensive range of activities and places of incredible beauty that will turn your vacation into an unforgettable experience.

Climate:

The climate of Puerto Vallarta is semi-tropical and humid with an average temperature of 27 C (80 F). The rainy season extends from mid June to late September, with scattered showers that last until mid-October.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO AND SEE IN PUERTO VALLARTA?

June Events - Navy Day
Puerto Vallarta has much to offer its visitors. Relaxation or adventure, whatever your age or your budget, without a doubt you'll find whatever suits your tastes among this magnificent scenery nestled between the jungle and the Pacific: idyllic beaches, hotels, restaurants, first class spas and salons, excursions and tours, boat rides, sunsets, eco-tourism, golf, scuba diving and snorkeling, water skiing, kayaking, windsurfing and kite surfing, parasailing, fishing and sport fishing, humpback whale watching (January through mid-March), swimming with dolphins, visits to secluded beaches, horseback riding, ATV rides and dune buggies, visits to indigenous communities, cultural activities, nightlife, shopping in traditional markets and crafts, visits to art galleries, open-air performances, and so on. All these activities and many more await along the 42 km (26 mi) of coastline along the Banderas Bay in the state of Jalisco.

THE PUERTO VALLARTA MALECON

The Malecon has been the most important historical monument for Vallarta since 1936, and one of the favorite places for visitors to stroll and admire the sunsets. This boardwalk's open-air sculpture museum reinforces Puerto Vallarta's fame for being the largest coastal city with a strong art presence! All along this walk, there are many places for all ages and all tastes: restaurants, theme bars, agencies for tours and scuba-diving, many jewelry stores, souvenir shops and artisan markets. During a visit, don't miss trying the Tequila, the regional drink from a town of the same name located 3 hours from Puerto Vallarta.

How about admiring Banderas Bay, but ... from the air? Enjoy an invigorating 30 minutes of parasailing, guaranteed to bring you unparalleled emotion and splendid panoramic views.

Every weekend, at the foot of the famous Malecon arches, musicians, singers, dancers, mimes and clowns come together to share their art in the outdoor theater "Aquiles Serdán. This show is a joy for the children and adults involved with the play of these jolly street performers. Near the theater is a small area where artists exhibit and sell their work to passersby. Don't miss the daily performance (just opposite the statue of "Caballito de Mar") of the brave "Papantla Flyers. This wonderful spectacle symbolizes one of the rituals of the Totonac civilization.
